Phil. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Novice GI & No-GI Championships
The Philippines Novice (Beginners) Gi and No Gi Brazilian Championship. It is an Open competition for players who have trained under 1 year or are 2nd Stripe White belts and under in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
The Philippine Novice Championship has been created solely for the purpose of providing students new to BJJ an opportunity to compete against other students of similar ability, thus providing a venue to test themselves before they go into the bigger comps This is a way to foster the sport at the grass root level. Please email us if you have any questions regarding eligilbilty. Competitors names will be scrutinized to ensure fairness to all players.
Letter from the Coach
Dear Sir Stephen,
I'm really glad that there's a venue for the athletes who are new to the sport of BJJ...Like I said before, we find it very hard to hone our skills for big comps because we only have mma here in bicol to compete in. We are planning to join this competition so that the my new students will better appreciate the sport of BJJ.
We are very excited to hear that Black Belt World Champion and 8x Brazilian Champion Daniel Otero is looking at his schedule to make time for a 2 weeks stay in the Philippines late November / early December. Daniel’s stay will include seminars, private and group private lessons in BJJ Gi and No Gi and MMA. More information will be provided as the dates are confirmed.

Master Fabricio started Jiu Jitsu under Grandmaster Alves at age 8 and has received every belt under Osvaldo. On the mat with Master Fabricio are some of his Black belt students only. Congratulations to Master Fabricio from all of us here at Team Fabricio.
- I would like to encourage a productive and healthy discussion about referring at comps.
- We are very happy to hear your feedback and answer any questions in regards to rules, interpretation of the rules, point scoring etc.
- We would also like to see more people get involved in this critical area, more competitors need to understand the complexities of the rules not just the point scoring system and put their hand up to help out. If we are able to cope adequately at future competitions we need all the teams to step up and contribute people to assist us as reffs. You will be trained prior to the comp and will need to attend at leas two rules meetings.
If you are interested to be assist as a refferee at the next comp please contact me @
