Written by BJJ Philippines
Wednesday, 26 August 2009

We are asking some of the instructors from our teams in  other countries to tell us about themselves and thier gyms.

The first was given by BJJ black Belt “ Alemao “

Monetnegro  -  Team  Fabrico Academy
Edson Ricardo Rodrigues (Alemão), I1 Dan Black Belt  under  Master  Fabrício Martins , of Equipe  Fabricio Jiu-Jitsu team at Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil has opened a new Gym in Montenegro.

“ My first coach at the Fabricio Academy  gym was  Black Instructor Joaquim Malta, who Trained for quite a long time,  focusing a lot of importance  on my development and mastering the fundamentals “.
“ Beyond Joaquim, other masters were important to my progress  in Jiu-Jitsu and in my  life, such as  Master Fabricio and Master  Max Noronha who taught me many things besides Jiu Jitsu such as how  to be more responsible,  how to  manage the classes,  and the importance of having a  good character  ”

“I wish to thank Master Fabricio, who graduated me from white to black belt and with whom I spent many years learning and training from. Over the years I became his right-hand man helping him teach and manage the gym and assisting with many of the private and class lessons”

After years of teaching at Equipe  Fabricio Jiu-Jitsu  at Copacabana, on 15th of December 2007, I had the opportunity given to me by my student and friend Emanoel to move to Montenegro in Europe to develop the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu that I learned  from Master Fabricio Martins.
On 15th of January 2008, we opened the first Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy in Montenegro, managed by myself and my student Emanoel. Nowadays we have 45 students between adults and children and we try to develop the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and the philosophy taught to us by Master Fabricio. I’m thankful to my friend and student Emanoel, who helped me open our academy in Montenegro.
Finally I would like to thank some people that were very important in my life learning Jiu-Jitsu, because without them I wouldn´t be here: Mestre Fabrício Martins, Max Noronha, Joaquim Malta, Ivo, Marcão, Emanoel Moreira, Ronaldo, Eduardo Netto, Hany, Samy, Daniel Otero, Rodrigo Uzeda, Oduvaldo, Thiaguinho, Alessandra Dolzanes, and my friend Stephen based the Philippines who trained with me many times with when he came to Brazil ,and to the many others who are like my family at Equipe Fabricio in Brazil.

Please Note: Alemao was a street kid trying to survive in Rio when Master Fabricio took him into his gym as a 12 year old; he is now in his early twenties.
