Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art and combat sport that focuses on grappling, especially ground fighting with the goal of gaining a dominant position, using joint-locks and chokeholds to force an opponent to submit.
The system developed in relative isolation in Brazil, from a modified version of pre-World War II Judo including some techniques from Japanese Jujutsu (most especially that of the ryu known as Fusen Ryu), which came via those techniques being incorporated into Kodokan Judo, and with a focus on ne-waza (ground technique).
BJJ has now become one of the fastest growing Martial arts in the World and is one of the prime disciplines of most Mixed Martiat Arts Fighters.
BJJ promotes the principle that a smaller, weaker person using leverage and proper technique can successfully defend themselves against a bigger, stronger assailant. BJJ can be trained and adapted for self defense, sport grappling tournaments (gi and no-gi) and mixed martial arts (MMA) competition. Sparring (commonly referred to as 'rolling') and live drilling play a major role in training, and a premium is placed on performance, especially in competition. There are many advantages in training BJJ in additiion to the self-defense and sport applicatio | | Healthy Lifestyle / Lose Weight

Syllabus :This system of assessment for all students as they progress through the grades is unique to Kamphuis - Fabricio students. Very few Brazilian Jiu Jitsu schools around the World have a syllabus to asses the knowledge base of their students. The syllabus was initially devised by Will - Machado Australia and was further modified and developed by Stephen Kamphuis and Fabricio - Martins (Head Instructor Equipe Fabricio) taking into account new techniques and training methods from Brazil as the sport evolves.
To ensure each student has a sound structure and fundamental knowledge all students must undertake to study and learn the grading syllabus before they can move to the next grade.
Gradings are held two to three times per year. During this time students who have been notified that they will be grading and spend a few dedicated weeks to prepare and review all aspects of the syllabus which is relevant to them.
A separate Kids syllabus has been devised in conjunction with well respeacted BJJ / UFC practioners Anthony Perosh and Elvis Sinosic from SPMA Australia.
The Childrens syllabus has the same focus to ensure that all the students work towards a sound knowledge of base skills taking into account the age and ability of each of the students. It also covers other aspects such as break falls, special related exercises, some Judo and Boxing techniques.
Belt System Adults:
The first belt is White , followed by Blue , Purple, Brown , Black
There are four stripe levels in each belt, except at the Brown belt level which has two levels, in Kamphuis - Fabricio followed by the coveted Black belt.
Black belt levels are seperated by degree: The first level is Black belt followed by Black belt 1st degree up to 10th degree ( reserved for the founders of the sport)
Grades Kids:

We have five levels for each belt
Why a syllabus?
Having a syllabus ensures that there is a uniformity and a set standard of teaching at all schools.
Students can be adequately assessed for new belt levels which ensures students that train under Kamphuis - Fabrcio regardless of the location have a consistency in basic skills and knowledge. This is in addition to competition experience and skill at the club level.
The syllsbus provides an opportunity for students to have a solid background, an understanding of the basic fundamentals and foundation techniques of the sport as they progress through the ranks. From this base students can build up their skill base while ensuring that they understand key elements and techniques of the sport.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Grades are highly regarded and respected within the community of Martial Arts; a real sense of achievement is obtained as student's progress in grades..
